Header VACCINATION VACCINATION

COVID-19 Vaccination is Required

This year, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, proof of vaccination will be required to attend BLFC. You must be fully vaccinated to attend, meaning your final vaccine dose must be administered no later than October 7th, 2021.

Proof of Vaccination

IMPORTANT: Your final COVID-19 vaccine dose must be administered no later than October 7th, 2021.

For international attendees, please bring the document your country uses to record proof of vaccination, or a picture or copy of that document. Any COVID-19 vaccine governmentally approved for use in your home country will be accepted.

Please note that we can only mandate vaccination within convention space; unvaccinated people will be present elsewhere on property such as in public hallways, elevators, the casino and restaurants.

Header ADDITIONAL INFO ADDITIONAL INFO

Liability waiver required

A COVID-19 liability waiver is required to attend BLFC. Copies will be available at con to sign and submit at registration, or you may print your own copy and bring it with you.

If you are 16 or 17, you will need to have your parent or guardian sign this form, as well as the parental consent form.

Face Masks are Required

Masks are required at BLFC in all con spaces.

Face masks must cover your nose and mouth, from under your chin to over your nose.

You may unmask when seated and actively eating food, and must re-mask as soon as you are able.

You may unmask while outdoors, including during the pool party.

Mask rules may be modified due to government guidance and could change several times between now and October.

Fursuits

Fursuit heads are not substitutes for masks. Face Masks must be worn over your nose and mouth, underneath fursuit heads.

Balaclavas and gaiters are currently not permitted as substitutes for masks, even when worn over the nose and mouth; we will update this guidance if we gain more information.

Masking under a fursuit can be difficult for some people; please make sure to try it at home first.

Head drying racks will not be available this year. You may not use any other fursuit lounge fan on your fursuit head. They will be for body use only.

Your face mask must stay on when in fursuit lounges; please lower it for only a few seconds at a time to hydrate.

Physical Distancing

There are currently no physical distancing requirements.

Please be aware that physical distancing will be difficult to achieve in some areas (such as elevators).

Travel

If you’re flying or taking other public transport, remember to check their requirements.

If traveling from outside the US, make sure to keep up to date on border entry information (including requirements for returning home, the rules can often be different!)

If You Get Sick at Con

If you develop symptoms of covid-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, among others) please self-quarantine in your hotel room or return home early if you can safely do so. This is a good idea for other illnesses too, to help you recover faster and protect others.

We will provide a partial refund of con attendance if you quarantine or leave early. You must contact us for instructions before leaving. More information will be provided at con.

Header EXEMPTIONS EXEMPTIONS

Medical exemptions

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), you may request a vaccine exemption for medical reasons. No other exemptions will be considered.

Request an exemption

IMPORTANT: You must request an exemption by October 7th, 2021. To apply for a vaccination exemption, please fill out the vaccine exemption form and email to vax@goblfc.org.

Header FAQ FAQ

Why the sudden change on religious exemptions?

We have never felt that they were in the best interest of our community, but legal counsel suggested them to reduce the risk of frivolous lawsuits. After community feedback, we had another discussion with legal counsel and determined that the benefit outweighed the risk.

Why are medical exemptions still being allowed?

Legal counsel has advised us that we are required to provide medical exemptions to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We expect to see very few exemptions.

Why is a liability waiver required?

We normally have a liability waiver for every year connected to registration. However, for this year legal counsel recommended that we include an additional COVID liability waiver. We will have it available on site at registration, but you are welcome to print your own copy and bring it with you.

Doesn't Nevada Emergency Directive 49 provide an option to have no exemptions at all?

Nevada Emergency Directive 49 does not apply to BLFC. We are unable to take advantage of this directive, as it only applies to events meeting specific requirements. BLFC does not meet all of these requirements (see Section 4).

Does Nevada Emergency Directive 50 apply instead of directive 49?

Nevada Emergency Directive 50 still does not apply to BLFC BLFC does not meet the requirement in Section 5, item 3.

Are the COVID precautions in Reno the same as in my state?

Every state has differences both in law and in custom. If you are concerned about specific risks, we encourage you to check with a doctor and/or research the differences to determine if you feel comfortable attending.

Will there be unvaccinated people outside of con space?

Yes. Please remember the rest of the hotel, elevators, hallways, casino, restaurants, and other activities are open to the public and we can’t control who will be present. Masks are the most effective protection.

I believe someone is creating fraudulent vaccine cards for themselves or others. What can I do?

To report suspicious activity involving fake vaccination record cards, please contact the appropriate government agency in your state or jurisdiction, HHS-OIG (1-800-HHS-TIPS or www.oig.hhs.gov), or the Internet Crime Complaint Center (www.ic3.gov).

What happens if someone presents a fraudulent proof of vaccination at the convention?

They will be ejected from the convention, and we will contact law enforcement.
